HRRT and Contemporary Athlete are joining forces to offer an amazing new opportunity for local cyclists and triathletes this off-season! Anyone interested in improving their cycling technique, efficiency, strength and power can benefit from this great plan. The program consists of three weekly sessions that can be done individually, or combined to increase benefits (and save you money!). Classes will be taught by Heather Rizzi, Madeleine Bonneville and David Bender. These three instructors bring together a combination of professional racing experience, personal training credentials, coaching expertise and knowledge of the ins and outs of cycling to maximize your off-season gains. Cycling classes will consist of an hour and a half of targeted and progressive training aimed at preparing you to enter the 2014 season stronger than you ever dreamed was possible! Session One will be dedicated to base-building: laying the foundation for further skill refinement in the sessions that follow. Riders will improve their pedal stroke efficiency, become more comfortable at higher cadences and begin to build muscular endurance to tackle the hills and headwinds of local riding and racing! Contemporary Athlete classes will consist of full body power development focusing on hip flexor strength, proper kinetic chain linkage, and deep core strength. The first cycle will start with corrective exercise and education, which will then lead to metabolic conditioning, and zone 2/3 cardiovascular strength in a power development based format. This will allow for athletes to increase their ability to ride/run/swim harder and faster without maxing out their hearts' ability to do work, increasing their power curve over the course of racing. Combining cycling sessions with Contemporary Athlete's focus on off-bike workouts that complement cyclists' and triathletes' training goals will speed you on your way to being the best athlete you can be!
